INTERIOR CAFETERIA - DAY
Josh moves his tray through the lunch line. He sees Brick, Koz, and Snoog in line behind him. Brick grabs a cup of pudding.
BRICK
Check this out. I'm gonna squeeze this pudding down Weemie Weenie's shirt!
Koz and Snoog LAUGH.
Josh sees Milton sitting off by himself. Then, he sees Raven entering the cafeteria with Lasa, Zeke, and Hal. Josh looks troubled.
Josh sees Brick heading toward Milton. He makes up his mind. Josh walks over and sits down across from Milton.
JOSH
O.K if I join you Milton?
MILTON
Yeah...sure!
Brick sees Josh sitting next to Milton. He stops, unsure of what to do.
JOSH
So, how're your tuba lessons going?
Milton's face falls.
MILTON
I'm not playing tuba anymore.
JOSH
No? That's too bad. I remember when you played that punk rock song at the talent show. That was pretty cool.
Brick, Koz, and Snoog walk up behind Milton with the pudding. Josh looks up at Brick.
BRICK
What's this? Weemie Weenie made a new friend? Does this mean you're a weenie too?
Before Josh can say anything, Raven, Lasa, Zee, and Hal move up to the table.
RAVEN
Hey, Josh. Hey, Milton.
MILTON
You know my name?
RAVEN
Sure, you're the tuba player.
LASA
You must be really dedicated to lug that tuba around everywhere!
Brick looks furious. He squeezes the chocolate pudding on Milton's mac and cheese. Koz and Snoog LAUGH.
SNOOG
He got pudding in his mac and cheese!
Brick, Snoog and Koz notice that no one else is laughing.
JOSH
You know, I think we've all had just about enough of your bullying!
RAVEN
Yeah, stick a brick in it, Brick.
Brick backs away. Milton takes a bite of his pudding-mac and cheese.
MILTON
You know, the school's mac and cheese is so bad, that the chocolate pudding actually improves it.
Everyone LAUGHS. Even Koz and Snoog.
BRICK
Shut up, you two!
Brick grabs Koz and Snoog, and drags them away.
RAVEN
Good one, Milton. Here, I'll share my lunch with you.
Milton takes another bite of pudding-mac and cheese.
MILTON
No, I was serious. This is WAY better!
OFF MORE LAUGHTER we...
DISSOLVE TO:
EXTERIOR PARK - EVENING
Josh, Raven, Lasa, Zee, and Hal sit around Milton. Milton stands on a tree stump and plays tuba. His new friends listen and smile.
Milton closes his eyes and goes into another fantasy...
RIPPLE DISSOLVE TO:
INTERIOR ARENA STAGE (MILTON'S FANTASY) - NIGHT
Milton PLAYS TUBA in front of a SCREAMING crowd.
MILTON (VOICE OVER)
Wait a minute...I don't need to fantasize... My real life's pretty good already.
RIPPLE DISSOLVE BACK:
EXTERIOR PARK - EVENING
Milton continues PLAYING. Josh looks up at him and smiles. Milton smiles back.
FADE OUT.
