MY BLOG

Milton's Blog

Hey music lovers it's Milton2ba with a post on my first day at music camp. I had a chance to try out a new 5-valve tuba and I'm still rocking. The day started on a low note when I ran into Brick, his muscle man Snoog, and Koz. This year the day camp combined music and sports—who knew?

Brick started with his name-calling: "Teenie Weamie is playing in the dork-estra." I thought I was over his teasing, that I could blow it off. But Brick's putdown was in front of the entire brass section. These are musicians from around Springdale who I'd only just met. If I'd been at school with my friends—Josh, Raven, KB, Hal and Zee—Brick wouldn't have bullied me. I was about to say something to Brick when I heard the horns clicking and toes tapping. My new musician friends had circled around me and were beginning to play the piece we learned this morning.

They blocked the path of the torture patrol and opened ranks to let me slip into the brass line. It was awesome! I felt safe and powerful enough to sit back and play my music.

Hal Mr. Tuba-Man...it's Hal here. Nice blog. And, you tell a good story of how to count on your friends, even those you have just met. Too many of us know how it feels to be bullied yet our numbers can make a difference. The brass band proved that point today. Keep rockin' and rollin'.

Milton You're right, Hal. This gives me an idea. By sharing stories of how to lend a hand when someone is bullied, we can spread the Stop Bullying Now! message to people everywhere.

I would say I am a quiet boy who dreams of being the world's greatest tuba player. Unfortunately, I have few friends and am bullied a lot.
